Local-Global Principles for Constant Reductive Groups over Semi-Global Fields

چکیده

We study local-global principles for torsors under reductive linear algebraic groups over semi-global fields; that is, one-variable function fields complete discretely valued fields. provide conditions on the group and field which principle holds, we compute obstruction to in certain classes of examples. Using our description obstruction, give first example a semisimple simply connected where fails. Our methods include patching R-equivalence.

Reductive Groups over Fields

These are lecture notes that Tony Feng live-TEXed from a course given by Brian Conrad at Stanford in“winter” 2015, which Feng and Conrad edited afterwards. Two substitute lectures were delivered (by Akshay Venkatesh and Zhiwei Yun) when Conrad was out of town. This is a sequel to a previous course on the general structure of linear algebraic groups; some loose ends from that course (e.g., Cheva...

Cycle groups of curves over global fields

The purpose of this investigation is to study certain low-dimensional cycle groups of smooth projective curves over global fields of positive characteristic, that is, fields which are finitely generated of transcendence degree one over a finite field. After a brief introduction, we overview some established results in this area and extend them appropriately. Throughout this paper, an algebraic ...

Dimension data, and Local versus Global Conjugacy in Reductive Groups

Let G be a reductive algebraic group and H be a connected semisimple subgroup of G. The dimension data consists of the collection { dimV H } with V H denoting the space of points in V fixed by H , and where (ρ, V ) runs through all representations of G. One may ask if the dimension data determine H up to conjugacy or at least isomorphism. In other words, If H and H ′ have the same dimension dat...

Torsion Subgroups of Brauer Groups and Extensions of Constant Local Degree for Global Function Fields

We show that, for all characteristic p global fields k and natural numbers n coprime to the order of the non–p–part of the Picard group Pic0(k) of k, there exists an abelian extension L/k whose local degree at every prime of k is equal to n. This answers in the affirmative in this context a question recently posed by Kisilevsky and Sonn. As a consequence, we show that, for all n and k as above,...

Characters of Reductive Groups over Finite Fields

Let E be a connected reductive algebraic group over C and let W be its Weyl group. The Springer correspondence allows us to parametrize the irreducible representations E of W as F = F^^ where u is a unipotent element in G (up to conjugacy) and <p is an irreducible representation of the group of components AH(u) = ZH(u)IZ°H(u). (However, not all <p arise in the parametrization.) For F = F^Uttp) ...
